Damn Desperate Housewives!

The damage has been done. The whole world has seen it. What else can be done?

Recent reports tell that the ABC television network has already deleted a segment maligning Filipino health professionals. This is the scene, Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), tells her doctor: “OK, before we go any further, can I check those diplomas? Because I would just like to make sure they are not from some med school in the Philippines.” What does she know about med school in the Philippines? What's the basis of their script?

This is not an issue about some med schools in the country. This is not issue only affecting the medical professionals. This is an issue that insulted every filipino. And more, an issue that degrades our educational system.

Although the network has already issued an apology. It's not ENOUGH! The following is the ABC's statement: "The producers of ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ABC Studios offer our sincere apologies for any offense caused by the brief reference in the season premiere. There was no intent to disparage the integrity of any aspect of the medical community in the Philippines. As leaders in broadcast diversity, we are committed to presenting sensitive and respectful images of all communities featured in our programs." Was that done with utmost sensitivity? Was that done with high respect of the communities they have featured in their programs? I don't think so!

I always believe our nurses and doctors are highly topnotch. This is very evident by the high demand of filipino medical professionals around the world. So the statement is baseless, unfair, irresponsible, and insensitive! Damn Desperate Housewives!

it was indeed a big insult in the part of filipinos. as we all know filipinos have capabilities different from others. they must think twice of every word that they say for we do also have hearts that can feel the insult of their critisisms.

As far as I concern and as what I have read....It is a big insult to us, Filipino. We have been degraded by some individuals not even knowing what we can and what we have for them. Yet, Filipinos are the most hospitable people. And what a hell are they doing, maybe they are just blind enough to see the great service that we can offer for the many.
The damage has been done already, what we should do now is to show them that we really are worthy...and that we are not as low and as easy as what they think... We must stand above these diversities, because I do believe that we still have the "integrity and credibility".

I always believe that Filipinos in the medical field are very competent and are of great skills and intelligence. I believe Miss Teri Hatcher's words were of no basis and that she doesn't have the right to say so. Filipino medical professionals, especially our nurses and doctors, have always been globally in demand for many years now, proving her (or the script writers) wrong.
But yes, the damage has been done and we can never have it back. The least that we can do is to prove them wrong by giving our best shot in every work we do and if possible, make it superb, make it excellent!!!

It is really a big deal on us, its not just insulting the med professionals but also degrading the integrity of every filipino. For me, as a filipino, its a very big slap on my face, it really hurt concerning our med wokers here and abroad, what would be the feedback of the people outside our country about our professionals here...it really is unfair not knowing the damage that have been done for releasing such reference on their program, they are not thinking of the outcome of suchan issue...

A what I have red, the script was very insulting to the filipinos, their criticizing the strength and expertise as well as our nation. It really hurts to the filipino especially when it comes to the professions of the nurses and the doctors.Although they already apologize but still its not worth it.So stand up and be proud because we believed that we FILIPINO has more strength and capabilities in professional fields.

I believe that it’s not really the fault of Ms. Teri Hatchers, because she was only doing her part on that scene just to deliver her lines in the story. It was the fault of the scriptwriter for making such insult lines for the Filipino. The only thing that made Ms. Teri Hatchers became the center of criticisms, is she’s the one who deliver that very insulting lines. But for me that issue is very painful on the side of the Filipinos especially to the medical professionals. It is not only insulting the capabilities of the Filipino doctors but it is degrading the whole Filipino nationality not only in the field of medical but also in all the fields that the Filipinos are involved. They really deserve to be criticize and even put into legal actions..charness!!!The only thing that we Filipinos can do is to prove them wrong in what they think bad to us.
Did they know that most of the Filipinos really excel not only in the Philippines in their own chosen career but also around the world? Well, its time for them to know it and recognize that WE Filipinos are fortunate because WE ARE THE CHOSEN nationality to excel in different fields!!!suya sila!!!joke...

This is definitely something that cannot be tolerated...
This is a pure insult to Filipino doctors or nurses from the Philippines but it is a direct insult to every Filipino. We should demand an apology form the TV network immediately. This shows the America still lingers with a culture of racism. Most of the Filipino doctors are not only knowledgeable but also the most industrious and CARING one.
A PUBLIC APOLOGY IS DEMANDED FROM THE NETWORK, DIRECTOR, MOST ESPECIALLY THE SCRIPT WRITER AND TERI HATCHER WHO APPARENTLY WAS JUST READING THE SCRIPT WITHOUT DIGESTING WHAT SHE WAS SAYING!

I think without any doubt the Filipino nurses are good in their field as demonstrated by all time demands for them in the 1st world countries. However, we should keep in mind that much hurt had been done to project their professionalism by the recent cheating scandals here during nursing exams.
